Female Reproductive System

Delay in diagnosing ectopic pregnancy (£2,900 - £17,900) where there is no significant impact on fertility. Failed sterilisation leading to pregnancy (£8,000 - £9,000) where there is no major depression or psychological impact. Infertility with no medical complications (£5,800 - £32,200) the amount of compensation awarded will depend upon whether the affected woman already has children or intended to have more children as well as psychological impact. Infertility from failure to diagnose ectopic pregnancy (£29,800 - £89,500) resulting in a degree of medical complications. Infertility leading to depression, scarring and ongoing pain (£100,700 - £148,500)

Digestive System

Minor illness e.g food poisoning (£800 - £3,400) symptoms such as diarrhoea, cramps and pain lasting several days or weeks. Moderate illness (£3,400 - £8,300) ongoing symptoms such as change of bowel function, fatigue, cramps and pain requiring hospitalisation for several days. Bowels

Minor injuries (£11,500 - £21,500) causes some permanent damage but natural function and control will return. Severe abdominal injury (£39,000 - £61,000) often results in the need of a temporary colostomy, leaving scars, and affects employment prospect and diet. Total loss of natural function (£61,000 - £131,500). Double incontinence (£123,300 - £161,500) in addition to other medical conditions, this causes total loss of both natural bowel and urinary function.

Bladder

Almost a complete recovery (£20,500 - £27,500) but some long-term problems with natural function still remains. Serious impairment of control (£56,000 - £70,000) with some pain and incontinence. Complete loss of function and control (£70,000 - £123,300). Double incontinence (£123,300 - £161,500) in addition to other medical conditions, this causes total loss of both natural bowel and urinary function.

Spleen

Loss of spleen with minimal / no damage to immune system (£3,800 - £7,500) does not severely increase the risk of internal infections or disorders in the future. Loss of spleen with damage to immune system (£18,200 - £23,000) resulting in a continued risk of internal infections and disorders.

Hernia

Uncomplicated indirect inguinal hernia (£2,900 - £6,300) is repairable with no other injury or damage. Direct inguinal hernia (£6,000 - £8,000) there is some risk of recurrence following treatment, where no pre-existing weakness was present. Continued pain and/or limited movement (£13,000 - £21,000) even after medical treatment this results in continued pain or a limitation of movement, impacting on employment prospects.
